Fosters are the heart of Fresh Start Rescue.
Without them, we cannot save a single animal.
Fostering matters because every animal deserves safety, love, and a real home. Without fosters, dogs have nowhere to go — no soft place to land, no chance to decompress, and no opportunity to show who they truly are.
When you foster, you give an animal the stability they need to heal, learn, and begin again. You’re the bridge between the life they came from and the life they’re meant to have.
What Fosters Do
Fosters provide a safe, loving temporary home for dogs who need a fresh start. They help each dog settle in, learn routines, feel secure, and begin to show their true personality.
Fosters handle daily care — feeding, potty breaks, gentle structure, and helping the dog adjust — while Fresh Start Rescue covers all veterinary care, supplies, and support.
Fosters help us learn who each dog truly is. They share updates, photos, and personality notes so we can write an accurate bio. They also bring the dog to vet appointments and meet‑and‑greets so adopters can get to know them.
You don’t need special experience — just patience, kindness, and a willingness to help a dog feel safe and loved.
Foster Responsibilities

Provide daily care — feeding, potty breaks, basic structure

Help the animal decompress — quiet time, gentle routines

Share updates — personality notes, photos, behaviors

Transport — vet visits, meet‑and‑greets

Support training basics — leash walking, manners, confidence

Communicate needs — if the dog needs supplies or medical attention
What Fresh Start Provides

Supplies as needed — kennel, leash, harness, collar, bowls, beds, food, toys, etc.

Veterinary Care — incoming animals will receive a wellness visit, vaccines and preventives as needed as well as other care as directed by our vet partners.

Support — timely communication, resources, etc.

Guidance — decompression, training, how adoption processes work, etc.
